Information and responses to the coronavirus outbreak are changing daily, and high schools, colleges, and universities across the country are working tirelessly to keep students informed. The college admissions process itself is complicated enough, and now with another layer of uncertainty that is directly affecting applicants, students and families are wondering what to expect.

Up until now, the National College Decision Day for high school seniors has always been May 1. This year because of the coronavirus pandemic and economic uncertainty many colleges have extended their deadlines. CUNY has encouraged all colleges to extend the May 1st deposit deadline and the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) has a webpage with updates to admissions policies for colleges and universities across the country. Check your email and stay up-to-date on the actions you’ll need to take if you are planning on starting college this fall.
